[Mac] Game crashes on startup - user error: Java 8 not installaed

method of installing the modpack: Launcher

problem: Modpack crashes on loading through the launcher. The Legacy pack does launch, however when attempting to join the server I get the following error screen. http://imgur.com/dFUkIw0

You’re still using Java 6. You need to install Java 8. Install the MAC OSX x64 .dmg version here.
