How did you find out about us?: A post on r/minecraft

How old are you?: 21

Where are you from?: Norway

Are you in our Discord? Do you understand that you must have Discord running at all times when at your computer, and that you must check the forums every few days?: Yessir

Why do you want to help with this project?: Ever since childhood I’ve loved Tolkiens world, and through this project I’ve been able to explore it more than I ever would have thought possible. I’m blown away by the talent, effort and love that has been put into creating this world, and I would love nothing more than to contribute to it.

Which Tolkien-related works have you read, seen or listened to?: I’ve read the Silmarillion, the Hobbit and of course the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I’ve also watched Peter Jacksons adaptations of the aforementioned.

Plot ID: -36:-28

Are there any styles that you excel at? Any styles which you have difficulty with?: I’ve mostly built historically inspired builds in Minecraft, so that is what I am most comfortable with. Some fantasy elements can therefore be a challange for me to get right.

Other relevant skills: No other relevant skills (:|)

Hey jeharne, this is a very good application! You clearly can handle the resource pack pretty well and both the the buildings you provided are up to standard. Before we promote you to apprentice tho, we’d like to see how you deal with a hobbit house, which is a trickier test and is an even better indicator of your abilities. After that you’ll be good to go for apprentice and I’m sure you’ll make it to builder very quickly .
You can just update your imgur folder with the screens of the new building and notify it here to let us know. :+1:

Hey, thanks for considering my application! A hobbit house has been built on the plot, and pictures of the house has been added to the bottom of the imgur folder: Application for Builder AC - Album on Imgur

Cheers

First, I’d like to say, this is a very good application.

I do see some points of interest that will probably be part of your learning process as an apprentice.

Your Shire Build, for example. I understand that with limited space in Hobbit builds, we get a bit nervous about how we decorate them. This often leads to new players just placing furniture and decorations flat against walls and plopping down large rugs in the middle of a room. I discourage that, as I think even these small rooms can be dynamic. Also, an over abundance of relying on neat blocks like hanging meats, vegetables, and tobacco can lead to a room feeling cluttered where your ceiling could be clean looking–which often shows the builder is unsure about how to make their ceiling look good. That all comes with confidence in interior decorating.

Over all, not bad. Whichever Overseer is assigned to you will need to verify if you’re good to start an apprenticeship–but you have my vote!

I think that he probably got inclined to overdetail it in that way cause paintings don’t work on plots, and it’s hard to make it feel rich and dynamic without them.
Anyway, that house could easily fit in the map, so he’s good for apprentice.

Being an Apprentice means you are a part of the project, but not a full Builder yet. You have this rank so you can learn and understand how we build. We have high standards and a focus on realism which means that there are things for you to learn. Your duties as an Apprentice should give you good grounding to become a Builder, and, as such, you will begin your first lot of on-server building work assisting current Builders on their builds. This will hopefully allow you to obtain the experience needed to build on your own when you feel you can start on building something on your own. When building as an Apprentice, you are only permitted to build on one building at a time. This not only provides you with good practice for your time as a Builder, but also allows project leaders and Overseers to get a good and clear idea of what your building abilities are. This will allow us to give you better and more bespoke feedback, and prevent any unnecessary problems. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to work on something if you have permission from a project leader via an open plot or confirmation if it’s something else. Finally, as an Apprentice you must always listen to project leaders when they give you feedback, criticisms, and tasks. Ask them if you are unsure of what to build, or how to build it. You have this rank to learn.

In order to eventually obtain Builder, please read the guidelines below:
When you build a house in a project and think it is finished, you should post a comment on this application thread with the closest warp and coordinates of your house. Then Builders or Overseers will comment on this thread and give you fair feedback. When you have achieved a standard of building that matches the basic standard of the server, you will be promoted to Builder. This could be on your first build or one further down the line. ArdaCraft is a friendly community that explores the freedom to create and build together. However, when we are dealing with an enormous project like this there are some guidelines we need to follow to make it work. Firstly, always name and date the stuff you build. We have a set of project blocks that we use - you can read about those in the new player guide at ‘/warp spawn’. Secondly, if you are looking for something to help out with, you can type ‘/warp jobs’. This is where you can find all open jobs like building houses or something similar. You will be provided with instructions on how to get to these projects, and what to build once you get there. Thirdly, do not be afraid to ask members for help and get to know us. This is a community project and it’s important to be part of the community! Stay active on Discord and the forums. Make sure to let an Overseer know who you are on Discord so that he can give you the appropriate rank on there.

On a final note, please remember that Apprentice is not a permanent rank, so we require a certain level of activity during your progression. Being active fewer than once a month will result in your application being rejected.

Hey there, sorry for the late reply, great job so far! You seem to be okay with the rohan buildings, but all of the ruins in Tharbad needed some degree of fixing before gettting approved. So before we can promote you to builder we’d like you to try some more of them, and see if you can get one approved straight away.
We’d also like you to do something more on the shire, for this reason we’ve assigned you the smial at /warp shire36. It is already layed out and you’ll need to update the interior.
After this you should be up for builder, keep it up!
