Builder Apllication: MrBanana666: ACCEPTED

Player name: MrBanana666

How did you find out about us: Ardacraft Youtube channel and Dukonred.

How old are you?: 19

Where are you from?: Italy

Are you in our Discord? Do you understand that you must have Discord running at all times when at your computer, and that you must check the forums every few days?: yes, I do

Why do you want to help with this project?: I love Tolkien’s universe and I love to create things on minecraft, so this is the best server for me to be. I also really like Ardacraft’s cooperation and historical realism.

Which Tolkien-related works have you read, seen or listened to?: all of the most important books (The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, LOTR trilogy) and of course I’ve seen the movies.

Portfolio: Lothlorien style house https://imgur.com/a/xYlSD
Ered Luin style house https://imgur.com/a/L3wu8
Beorning style house https://imgur.com/a/IDbX9

Plot ID: -16; -21

Are there any styles that you excel at? Any styles which you have difficulty with?: The style I enjoy the most is elven style, but I like making dwarven stuff as well. I haven’t really tried building trees or making landscapes, but I’m sure I will learn quickly once I focus I little bit on them.

Other relevant skills: not really, but i study architecture at the university, maybe that will help somehow.

Don’t really have time to delve deep into your builds to critique them, but the main thing that I know you will be utterly raped for is the logs with bark on them. Use beams for those type stuff of builds because the bark would just fall off when building it leaving the beam. Don’t want you to be shat on by the mean overseers.

Fixed, no more bark. Thank you for the comment

Looking good, good enough! The beorning house is a bit different from what we’re going for on the arda map, feels a bit high fantasy with how the nets are attached to the side of the house, but it’s a fun and detailed build regardless. Overall your builds show you’re fairly proficient at building, but for them to fit in the map they might need some (really really) small modifications. Congratulations on apprentice!

Please read the information below to see what you need to do for builder:

Being an Apprentice means you are a part of the project, but not a full Builder yet. You have this rank so you can learn and understand how we build. We have high standards and a focus on realism which means that there are things for you to learn.

Your duties as an Apprentice should give you good grounding to become a Builder, and, as such, you will begin your first lot of on-server building work assisting current Builders on their builds. This will hopefully allow you to obtain the experience needed to build on your own when you feel you can start on building something on your own.

When building as an Apprentice, you are only permitted to build on one building at a time. This not only provides you with good practice for your time as a Builder, but also allows project leaders and Overseers to get a good and clear idea of what your building abilities are. This will allow us to give you better and more bespoke feedback, and prevent any unnecessary problems.

Finally, as an Apprentice you must always listen to project leaders when they give you feedback, criticisms, and tasks. Ask them if you are unsure of what to build, or how to build it. You have this rank to learn.(edited)
In order to eventually obtain Builder, please read the guidelines below:

When you build a house in a project and think it is finished, you should post a comment on this application thread with the closest warp and coordinates of your house. Then Builders or Overseers will comment on this thread and give you fair feedback. When you have achieved a standard of building that matches the basic standard of the server, you will be promoted to Builder. This could be on your first build or one further down the line.

ArdaCraft is a friendly community that explores the freedom to create and build together. However, when we are dealing with an enormous project like this there are some guidelines we need to follow to make it work.

Firstly, always name the stuff you build. We have a set of project blocks that we use - you can read about those in the new player guide at ‘/warp spawn’.

Secondly, if you are looking for something to help out with, you can type ‘/warp jobs’. This is where you can find all open jobs like building houses or something similar. You will be provided with instructions on how to get to these projects, and what to build once you get there.

Thirdly, do not be afraid to ask members for help and get to know us. This is a community project and it’s important to be part of the community! Stay active on Discord and the forums. Make sure to let Fornad know who you are on Discord so that he can give you the appropriate rank on there.

Thank you for the feedback! So as an apprentice I am allowed to build sometging in an open project but I can’t lead a project on my own since when I’m not a builder, right?

That’s correct yes. You can go onto the server, try to find a house that needs building or just ask project leaders to give you one, and build it. Once you’ve done that make sure you post on this thread what you’ve done and where you’ve done it.

All the information you need to know is in the italics above.

Nice, thank you

With the help of his greatness @eag_inc I made a Burh3 house (13948; 155), then I made another one in village2 (13455; -533). Let me know what you think of them.

Done one more burh3 house (14018; 224) and a diagonal house in village2 (13392; -554), which have both been appreciated by the project leaders. I know that I have done Beorning stuff only, but there’s not many other projects opened. I’ve also done a couple of market stalls in Thorin’s halls.

I will check on your houses tonight and hopefully, if they’re good enough, we’ll be able to get you promoted

Ok so, the fact that your houses that you’ve done so far have all required some degree of fixing / touch ups means that you haven’t been promoted yet. Don’t worry about this because the whole point of apprentice rank is to learn and develop your building skills. Stay active and keep building but make sure that you’ve put in the effort and made sure that your build is as good as it can be before putting the waiting approval block on top of it.

In the last few days I have completed the kitchen of the barracks in thorin’s halls (-7345; -2494) and my third house in village2 (sign has beeen removed, it is the turf roof one, the net maker) (13446; -581) plus almost all of the courtyards and vegetable gardens to the south of the village. Nothing of that needed changes and got approved by project leaders. Hope that’s enough now.
