Build Application: TheCDGamer: ACCEPTED

Player name: TheCDGamer

How long have you been a member of this project?: 04/08/2016

How old are you?:13-15

Where are you from?: England

Why do you want to help with this project?: I’ve always wanted to be part of a build team, I tend to undertake big projects which just are too tedious to do alone without cutting a couple of corners which would not be necessary in a team. I have always been a decent builder but my skills have drastically improved over the recent years, especially in the genre of medieval. This project in particular I feel I’m comfortable with, it fits in with my preferences well and is based around one of my favourite film and book series.

Which Tolkien-related works have you read, seen or listened to?: I have watched all of the Hobbit Movies and Lord of The Rings Movies, I also read the Hobbit 2 years ago and the first 2 Lord of the Rings Books 1/2 a year ago, I am planning to read the third in the near future.

Are there any styles that you excel at? Any styles which you have difficulty with?: I am very strong in the medieval genre and decent with organic builds, however my skills with making things overly messy or modern are lacking. I am also bad with large expanses of editing terrain.

Pretty cool stuff, clearly some potential here! Just a few points that slightly cast a doubt on your building skills. For example in this screenshot there’s some weird stuff going on below the window. Other than that I’d say the proportions and relative sizes of the house’s components are pretty decent. Same goes for the second link in your application, though it might be a bit jamziboy-esque; low walls with decorated figureheads on the roof. It’s not a house you would find inside Mithlond, though a settlement outside it might look somewhat similar (in the future). Third link you posted also has some room for improvement. The combination of gray windows alongside the stone elven windows looks a little off. The ash wood balcony(?) on top should contrast more with the trim on the sides and top of the roof.

All this being said, in my opinion you’ve just made it past the mark. I think you can improve a lot if you start building with us, and would love to see you promoted to builder. It’s also clear you’ve put a lot of time in improving the application, which is a good thing. Would like to see some feedback from other people too

I think this application shows that you can easily build with us. Its not perfect but nobody should expect that from a builder app. I’d say this is close enough to our standards.
