Builder Application: BouenMarsh: REJECTED

Player name: Bouen Marsh

How did you find out about us?: I’ve been translating a Realms in Exile mod for Crusader Kings III and was looking for possible translations of a particular Rohan village name. The first link brought me to ArdaCraft and this particular village built here, with screenshots and whatnot. I was amazed so I found a way to buypass sanctions and own Minecraft to join and help out.

How old are you?: 25

Where are you from?: Russia, Moscow

**Are you in our Discord? Is your username the same as your Minecraft name? Do you understand that you must always have Discord open, and that you must check the forums every few days?: Yes, Bouen Marsh is the discord name. Yes, I understand those requirements.

Why do you want to help with this project?: The work being done here is amazing. Additionally, I can visit and recreate the places I translate about on other LoTR projects to have a better grasp of the atmosphere.

Which Tolkien-related works have you read, seen or listened to?: Hobbit books, first book of the main trilogy, all the films and a bunch of games.

Welcome to the server! @olaf16 will be your mentor - he’s away at the moment but you should have feedback by the end of this week.

Heyo

Your build looks pretty decent and is almost up to standard, only the interior, gradient (warp gradientguide) and the garden could use some work. The interior is for example a little plain with some bits that should only be in rich houses and other bits that should only be in poor houses. The garden lacks the small vegetable-gardens and the path should have more textures. I would like to see you build a Hobbit house with a profession as baker, since the interior and garden are a focus in that style. There are plenty of examples spread across the shire with some good gardens.

Thank you for applying, and happy building.

Thanks for the input, I’ll take a look and try to come up with something within a week or so.

Looks like I’m done with the exterior of the building. Now interior and surroundings are left.

Heyy

There are a few strange choices you have made, like not filling in the ceiling with full blocks and some things in the roof. But overall its almost up to standard and with the Rohan build you did you should be able to learn the last bits faster as apprentice on 1.15. Congrats

APPRENTICE STATEMENT

Being an Apprentice means you are a part of the project, but not a full Builder yet. You have this rank so you can improve. We have high standards and a focus on realism which means that there are things for you to learn. Your duties as an Apprentice should give you good grounding to become a Builder, and you will begin your first lot of on-server building work assisting Overseers/Builders on their builds. This will allow you to obtain the experience needed to lead on your own when you feel you are ready.

If you are looking for something to help out with, you can type ‘/warp jobs’ or look on the Projects section of our forums. This is where you can find all open jobs like building houses or something similar – some of them may be on our 1.15 server, which you should request to be whitelisted on via Discord. You will be provided with instructions on how to get to these projects, and what to build once you get there. Thirdly, do not be afraid to ask members for help and get to know us. This is a community project and it’s important to be part of the community!

When building as an Apprentice, you are only permitted to build on one building at a time, and to post each build on your thread with the closest warp or the co-ordinates. This not only provides you with good practice for your time as a Builder, but also allows project leaders to get a good and clear idea of what your building abilities are. This will allow us to give you better feedback, and prevent any unnecessary problems. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to work on something if you have permission from a project leader via an open plot or their express permission. Finally, as an Apprentice you must always listen to project leaders when they give you feedback, criticisms, and tasks. Ask them if you are unsure of what to build, or how to build it. You have this rank to learn.
