Looks good to me as well, go for it.

#8

Aldorstowe is now open (partly)

We want the lowclass houses done first so those are the only ones open to build at the moments.
Read the guide and look at the example house for HIP styled roofs. We DONT want people fucking about discovering the style on their own so please go look at the guide before you start working on a house.

Every house has been planned out in brown wool so those are the houses we want done for now. Follow the instructions some houses might have to. For the one who will be claiming the tanner (if we didnt claim it for ourselfs already, there is a good example of a tannerpit in dale please take a look at that if its the first tanner you are making.

We hope people come out and help in this diagonal hell so that we can quickly make the step to the more exciting higher class houses wich will opened in the near future

If you dont like the village feel free to fuck off
gr. chevy xoxo

Bassie en adriaan products wish you the best of luck buiding

Bassie en Adriaan are my childhood

#10

Don’t put the limepit in the village. If anything it should be closer to the mountains/in an area of cleared out forest, where the geology is actually limestone.

#11

Regarding the chat in discord building channel various things will be changed in the plan
-Tanner
-Lime-pit(+owner)

Both of these will be further away from aldorstowe than now but will still be part of the same project

Quick update:

There has ben a lot of progress cetrainly more than i expected. Only two low-class houses are unlcaimed at the moment wich makes it only a total of three low-class houses that still need to be finished. The mid-class houses will open as soon as the mid-class example house is done (wich will be pretty soon)

A special thanks to the following people for their help so far.

  • @hoppingharry and @Guigui for making a damm good brewery complex (brerwery, brewery owners house and the barrel storrage) (WIP)

  • @Fronacen and @Lawxo for making a total of three houses and being the only builders who made a diagonal house in aldorstowe at the moment (apart from the project leaders)

  • And once more a special thanks to @Fronacen for willing to do the lime-pits part of this project

  • @Beathaven for making the stables (WIP)

#13

Mid-class house are now open

just build them please

#14

What’s left in this village?

#15

Not too much. A little bit of grass removal behind the longhouse and making it look like a paddock, fixing the entrances, touching up the stone walls, making a public privy, adding some wagons and carts. Small stuff really.

#16

I forgot. Building a limepit/tanner area. thats outside the village but part of the project.

#17

Cool, would be good to see it done this week.

#18

the village proper is ready for initial inspection. there is a lime pit outside the walls that i will be attending to

#19

Hey Chev and Pop,

Just went over the village and it think it looks very good overall.

I think there is too much stone / too many walls. I would opt for a more defendable, reinforced core, marked in blue. Remove the walls marked in red or turn them into, for example, hedges. Especially in the top part of the picture. These thick walls are only protecting two houses and some fields, one house is even under construction. If you guys remove these walls, it makes more sense with the house that is under construction as well.

Next thing is, there are some empty spots scattered around the village. Land protected by walls would be valuable real estate and the villagers would waste as little as possible. A cart, some crates and a shack would fill these spots nicely.

I feel that the sides of your houses can use some detail. This does not have to be a huge amount of work. Adding a beam going across and some berries bushes at the foundation can improve your houses significantly.

If anything is unclear, feel free to send me a discord PM.

@Fornad The blue is what Pop originally had and we were talked into expanding the walls. Before i redo the original walls i want to make sure everyone agrees with Beat about closing them in.

#21

I agree with him yeah

#22

I will probably get back active on this project as i got one more night in the US before i return. (monday) So i will help chev out ofc and if i would take a guess get everything done halfway trough next week. :ghost:

#23

Checked over the project - I only found an un-detailed allotment, which I left a column of not accepted blocks in. Otherwise, Poppel has left a load of signs on green screen which he plans to fix himself.

Once all these changes have been made, I’ll be happy to call this village complete!

#24

All notes have been taken care off.

Aldor is ready for a final inspection. once final possible adjusments have been made
chev will do the final write up to close of the project as he did whit other projects before.
:ghost:

#25

Happy to declare this done!

I’ll leave the thread open for @Chevy_the_cat to do his final write-up.

Aldorstowe (Aldor’s meeting-place - Aldor was a king of Rohan who conquered land to the west of the Isen, and would probably have had a base of operations in the Westfold)

Population: 131 (21 households)

Notable Professions: Miller (low-water watermill), Brewery, Baker, Cobbler, Butcher, Innkeeper, Tailor, Blacksmith, Lime Pit

Aldorstowe is located Northwest of Helm’s Deep, and between the villages of Grimslade and Helmham. It has a gated, center core, which is then surrounded by a hedge wall. It is widely known in Westfold for its unique mead brewery, which is large enough to supply surrounding communities, and its marketplace located near the longhouse. Aldorstowe utilizes pollard trees for wood supply as opposed to coppices that are found in most Rohan villages. A lime pit is located south of the village, which allows for homes to have whitewashed walls.

Other points of interest:

  • An old man, who lives next to the inn, can often be found sitting next to the fire pit in front of his house. He likes to make idle chat with people who are passing by and often welcomes them to sit with him. He is often called upon for his colorful stories about Westfold history.
  • A family is moving in to a previously occupied home. They used to live in Grimslade but are hesitant to talk about their reason for the move.
  • Next to the northwest entrance a house under construction can be found. The family consists of a widower and his 5 daughters, all of whom are said to be experts with the bow.

Shoutouts to all builders who put in time on this project, Harry and @Guigui for the brewery complex, @Ahorn for the pollard idea and inspections, @wheellee for the longhouse and ocd about details, @guan for a bit of layout help, and of course @Beathaven and @Fornad. If we forgot any major contributors please let me know. Thanks Everyone!
